Minimum Chips, an ongoing project since 1994, started life as a trio with much instrument-swapping, and after relocating from Brisbane to Melbourne, became a 4-piece group with, as a rule, Nicole Thibault on vocals & keyboards, Julian Patterson on guitar, Ian Wadley on drums. Guy Blackman (who had earlier released most of the groups discography on Chapter Music) played bass, and so did Ellen Turner (who left to operate a bar in Shanghai).
The groups efforts have been somewhat interrupted in recent years by side projects such as April Thibault-Harris, Ian's solo efforts - and role in the Bird Blobs et al - and Julian drumming in Kes Band and Mum Smokes. Gigs in recent years have included reforming for Chapter Music birthday celebrations, and supporting Deerhoof.
