The Gatekeepers were, when they began in the early 80s, a group with 60s-psychedelic influences and (most unusual at the time) non-standard tunings. An early lineup played a handful of gigs and released a cassette LP. By 1988 singer/songwriter Peter Jetnikoff and bassplayer Greg Wadley had relocated to Melbourne, played a few shows (with Ian Wadley on drums) under the name Pancreas. As The Gatekeepers this lineup released the "Indoors/Ogre/Silence" 12" EP (download link above) after Ian returned to Brisbane to rejoin the Holy Ghosts.

Peter Jetnikoff has since written a few graphic novels and a play or two; musically he has been involved in, amongst others, Cubist Cigars.
